RISING STAR
February 2011

Patricia Dawson of The Sitting Room, Ballymena is one happy, smiley person after securing a place on the prestigious and highly sought-after Clynol Protégé team.Sitting Room staff

This Clynol inspired team is put together after a gruelling judging process which took place in London this month where live cutting and styling work, presentation skills and potential for team work of the 24 short-listed hopefuls were assessed.  Put through their paces by the expert external judging panel of Hairdressers Journal’s Rachael Gibson, Publisher of Your Hair Alison Worthington, UK Publisher of Tribu-te magazine Nicky Pope, co-founder of independent education company – The Five Point Alliance Martyn Wady and hairdressing expert Gemma Hensman of Hensmans Salons.

The national competition, open to those of age 25 and under, saw entrants compete against each other throughout  a nerve-wracking day at Clynol’s London Academy for the opportunity to work for a year under the wing of Clynol’s premier hairdressers and technicians. They will also receive top end training from award-winning hairdressers such as 3 times Scottish Hairdresser of the Year Tracey Devine, take to the stage for presentations and cast and style their own photo-shoot as a finale to this spectacular 12 months.Sitting Room staff

Competition was fierce, but Clynol’s Protege Team Manager, Jamie Farrar comments, “I am absolutely delighted with the team that has been selected. Each person has great potential and we already have a fantastic spread of existing skills – a couple of great little presenters, a couple of edgy creatives and some big characters – it’s going to be a fun year!  With the brilliant standard that we had I was so confident of getting a fantastic team and thanks to the judges we potentially have one of the best.  I think the people who come into this fantastic youth team honestly get stronger and stronger each year – it’s an exciting part of my job to work with them and bring the very best out of them.”

Patricia is over the moon with her success in the competition. “The whole experience has been brilliant. I couldn’t believe it when I got short-listed and to make it through to the final team selection is amazing. I can’t wait for my year as a Protégé. I’m so excited!”

So watch this space and remember Patricia Dawson’s name, you’ll be seeing a lot more of her in 2011!
